Finding Tibetan lāsōk
Twenty years after the first Machik Weekend, we find ourselves at an unprecedented juncture. With the ground shifting beneath our feet, we take as our compass for this year's Machik Weekend the Tibetan concept of "lāsōk" (བླ་སྲོག) -- the vital essence that animates life itself. It is the force that makes us fully alive -- the spark that becomes our will to regenerate, to create and to rise again. |
Growing Together
This year's theme of lāsōk asks us to think about what keeps a people, a culture, a community -- and a planet -- truly alive. What gives life vitality? What sustains us through turbulent times? What matters most? What new forms of life, imagination, relationship, and action can we create together? What must we protect together? |

JOIN US IN NEW YORK CITY | OCTOBER 16-18, 2026
Every Machik Weekend has been powered by people who believe that Tibet's future is something we all create together. People have crossed borders and generations to share their knowledge,
creativity and care.
This year, we shine a light on the road we've traveled together over these 20 years, and gather
momentum as we look forward to the road ahead.
And yes, Machik Spirit Night is back! We'll celebrate Tibetan creativity, artists, music and the milestones of the past year — while looking back at some unforgettable moments from the past two decades.
